Aquaman has arrived! Well, not at my doorstep technically but I got to watch it with a host of other friends, colleagues and fans at an exclusive private viewing yesterday at IMAX Filmhouse, Lekki thanks to DStv. Years of anticipation have led to this write-up, as DC Comics has finally brought the legendary comics character to the big screen.
Aquaman tells a story of Jason Momoa who played the role of Arthur Curry (Aquaman) the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, who finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt. Arthur must step forward to lead his people against his half-brother Orm, who seeks to unite the seven underwater kingdoms against the surface world.
Here are the 5 reasons Aquaman is a must watch for every good movie lover
The super talented cast and crew: The lineup cast is amazing! The excellent performance of the character has been receiving some accolades since the release of the trailer. The direction which is of course done by James Wan is top notch, the visuals, and the performances of the cast will blow your mind.
He is the King of the Seas: Apart from the fact that Jason Momoa( Aquaman) does more than talk to the fish, he was born with a number of other abilities. As a swimmer, he’s reached top speed of about 1, 1150.7 mph and has launched himself 60 feet into the air from water. Arthur’s telepathy can also influence non-aquatic life in subtle ways and give people hypnotic suggestions.
His wife is also a superhero: Arthur’s wife, Queen Mera (Amber Heard) is not only a pretty woman but a good fighter and a fellow water-breather who is stronger than her looks. Interestingly, she is also hydro kinetic.. (I’m not about to go into more details)
He travels through water and space: Ever since inception, the king of seven seas has had regular adventures throughout time and space, so it would be wrong to say Aquaman only hangs out underwater to be effective. Did you know that he once took a time trip to planet Neptune in the 853rd century where he took part in interplanetary Olympics and saved the entire planet from alien menace?
Aquaman is a movie to watch with kids: If your kids are fans of Batman and Superman, their viewing pleasure is incomplete without seeing the hydrokinetic Aquaman. He is not only a super hero but a fearless kid that toyed with deadly aquatic creatures when he was a boy to hone his gifts of marine mind reading.
