The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Nigerian Breweries Plc on Friday, February 9th, 2018 held the official kickoff event for a multimillion Naira, 5-year agreement which sees the nation’s biggest brewer serve as official partner of the National Football teams through its Star Lager Beer and Amstel Malta brands.
Here are 5 reasons why this union between the soccer house and one of the country’s most successful businesses is such a big deal:
Valued at N2.2billion, the 5-year contract is one of the biggest ever corporate sponsorship deals signed on behalf of the Nigerian National Teams.
Nigerian Breweries, a member of the global Heineken N.V. family, will make available a global expertise developed over time leveraging other football assets, to support the Nigeria Football Federation.
The deal involves all National Team Assets, both senior and youth squads of the male and female teams. Star Lager has become the Official Alcoholic Drink of the Super Eagles, while Amstel Malta is now the Official Malt Drink of the NFF and the National Teams.
The involvement of Star Lager and Amstel Malta, two premium brands very well known for executing powerful consumer engagement activities thus creates more opportunities for passionate Nigerian football fans to engage with the National Teams, before, during and after their international games.
Coming in a FIFA World Cup year (Russia 2018), this support will offer additional motivation for the NFF, Super Eagles players and the entire coaching crew.
With the Super Eagles squad abounding with experienced players and young talents, it is expected that fans will have high hopes for the team and will be expecting them to shine on to greater success.
