The duo of Murphy Ijemba and Sean Amadi claimed to have been unceremoniously dumped by sports radio station Brilla FM; it has come to light that days after their claims, both presenters tendered their resignation letters to the company. The radio station had disclosed last week that the two OAP’s were reassigned and refused to show up to their new desks.
In a surprising about-face, the two sportscasters sent their resignation letters by email, saying in similar words of their desire to move on from Brilla FM.
Amadi, who sent his on the 8th of September says in part ‘Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation from my position as OAP at Brila FM. I must state that this is a very difficult considering the joy, pleasure and fulfilment of working with the Brilla family and Brilla FM in the past five years…’
Ijemba on his part says ‘My resignation is as a result of the need to improve my capacity academically and professionally…’
In Brilla FM’s official reply to both of them, the radio station states that they both did not follow due protocol of submitting a resignation letter thirty days in advance or payment of one month’s salary in lieu of said notice. Ijemba in particular is said to still owe the company a car loan repayment, which he had signed to pay the sum of two million naira or face legal action.
Since the matter became public however, the two have refrained from commenting on it, only using their Twitter handles to retweet a few sports updates.
