The annual American music festival Coachella kicked off this weekend and one of the most anticipated performers, Nigerian pop star Wizkid could not make it there.
The internationally acclaimed singer was on the bill to perform on the same night as Beyonce but was unable to travel- his band couldn’t secure a visa early enough.
‘We are sorry to announce that Wizkid is unable to make it into the country to join us this weekend but will be performing next weekend’, Coachella tweeted from its official handle.

Although the Starboy explained that he couldn’t make to the event on the night as a result of his band’s inability to get a visa on time, Twitter still made a case.
In the usual fashion, some people came to Wizkid’s defense, others went overboard, and a couple of people made a joke out of the situation. See reactions below.
Wizkid: My music travel no Visa.
American embassy: Yinmu.

Lmfao, somebody said wizkid didn’t go for Coachella because he didn’t want to drag starboy with the weeknd 😂😂😂😂.

Someone said it’s God’s plan that wizkid missed Coachella, cos Beyonce is making the other singers there look like upcoming.😂 #Beychella

Imagine if Wizkid had gone to the Coachella sef. After Beyoncé’s wonderful performance, we now enter “soco soco soco baby”
Nah fam, he helped us dodge that bullet

If Atiku can be denied a visa, who is Wizkid?

I dont know if it was intentional or God’s plan but Wizkid not performing on same night with Beyoncé at Coachella is a blessing for Wizkid, Looking at it from the eye of a PR and Location

People bought $400 tickets to watch our very own Starboy, Wizkid, but we should pat him at the back and say “thank you for not showing up”. Fans deserve better.

Wizkid’s manager needs to do better.. Visa issues, Flight issues and excuses are not making sense anymore.

Wizkid will not prepare on time to perform at Coachella after being booked 8 months prior, but tell him one of his songs are wack now, he will block you. Smh
— JAGS (@EtniesJags) April 15, 2018
Saying Wizkid is lazy is weak. Boi had nothing, no rich parents, no money, no connects. Just talent and will, he turned all that into getting booked to perform on the same night as Beyonce. You don’t achieve that by being lazy in the music industry. Sit your hurt asses down.

Bashing Wizkid over the #Coachella fiasco is understandable but saying he’s not hardworking is totally uncalled-for. Mans being balling at the top for 7years and almost singlehandedly took Ojuelegba to the World.
If that’s not hardwork, pls tell me what is.

“Wizkid had the option of flying over to America and practicing hard with American band, leaving his band behind”.
This is like saying that when Bob Marley went on tour, he had the option of leaving his band behind – would he sound like Bob Marley?
Nigerians can talk nonsense.

I see people insulting Wizkid because he didn’t get to perform at Coachella for a reason or two, I have just one question for you
Do you really think that Wizkid himself doesn’t want to perform there? Or do you think you love his own music career more than him?

Coachella is a week-long event and the Starboy and his band have been resheduled for this weekend.
