The new MBGN 2017

The 2017 edition of Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria held on Friday night. At the end of the night Ugochi Ihezue was crowned as the queen of them all.

Although the live broadcast was not without hitches, there were highlights one would savour for a long time.

Here’s five things we loved about the event.

1. IK!

Between all the awkward long pauses that littered the show, IK proved why he was inarguably the best compere in this part of the world. We knew IK was a great compere but who knew he was a comedian? IK was able to make us laugh and still hold the show together. Big ups to IK, we really hope you get that WWTBAM gig.

2. The dresses

The fashion at this year’s MBGN event was definitely the most glamorous ever. The ladies looked so elegant, from their make up to their accessories to those gorgeous dresses. We couldn’t help but fall in love with contestant after contestant given how they all looked so stunning.

3. Baddo Shut It Down

Olamide’s medley performance was definitely one of the highlights of the evening. Baddo Sneh took us on a throwback ride by performing all his hits and of course, he ended the hits marathon with his latest street anthem, ‘Wo!!’. At first the crowd seemed not to be in the mood, but sooner than later TV personality, Denrele, and some other audience members forgot they were at a prim and proper event and got lost in the jam.

4. The Top Five’s Answers

The top five contestants were given some interesting questions to answer in order to prove to the judges why they deserved to go home with the crown. The girls gave very poised and strong answers and a number of them even got strong rounds of applause from the audience.

5. Miss Bayelsa’s Gown

No, she didn’t win the big crown but everyone agrees that Miss Bayelsa, won, and deserved, the award for Best Evening Wear ten times over. The heavy gown was made out of pipes and took up the space for two models. There is no denying that this gown will go down as one of the more iconic gowns in MBGN history.
