Floating Drummers, Aerial Choreography And All The Best Moments Of BAFEST 2018

The much anticipated Born In Africa Festival 2018, took place yesterday at the Eko Atlantic City, in Lagos Nigeria indeed it was a mind-blowing experience for attendees who stood for over seven hours to witness an ensemble of the biggest names in African Music, Arts and Fashion industry all in one stage.

From the lineup of musicians, exhibitors and top fashion models announced, it was clear from the onset that the show produced by Lifespot Production was going to be the biggest entertainment event organised in Nigeria in 2018 so far – and it lived up to that.

As early as 3 pm on Sunday, guests began to arrive at the venue to meet the place already set up as the performing artistes took turns to do their mic check. In another corner of the expansive venue was an art corner and also, a screening of the film ‘Kasala’, directed by Ema Edosio.

By 8 pm, with the breathtaking stage was ready. The whole of the venue was filled to the brim as Nigeria’s most spirited hypemen, Shody ‘The Turnup King’ and Do2Tun aka ‘The Energy Gad’ with DJ Crowd Kontroller took to the stage to rave up the guests who were more than ready take all that was in store for them.

Then it all began with a daring aerodynamics performance by a Ukranian dancer accompanied by the Drumstatic band, all suspended in the air.

That performance set the mood for the night as the president of the Sweet Boys Association, Falz, mounted the stage thereafter to deliver an exquisite set with the live band

Falz made way for Flavour who had the ladies drooling as he unleashed off of his sexiness on stage. The Highlife musician showed why he is regarded as one of Nigeria’s best performers with the mastery of his stagecraft

Next up was the veteran Congolese international musician, Awilo Logomba, who took the fans through a nostalgic journey, jamming his biggest hits with the crowd cheering in excitement.

Timaya, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Kizz Daniels also took to the stage respectively for their various sets with very exceptional performances recorded. Tiwa especially was a beauty to behold as she showed confidence on stage while decked in a military-inspired outfit

South-African Sho Madjozi, received love from the Nigerian crowd as she introduced her music to them with an enthusiastic display before Olamide and Koko master D’banj came on to raise the tempo.

Expectedly, the moment of the night was when Burna Boy was announced to a grand reception on stage. The crowd had been calling for him all night and it was a performance that was worth the wait. Beginning his set at about 4 am, the superstar artiste and thousands of his fans literally performed together. The crowd lost it immediately the smash hit song ‘Ye’ was cued in

The #BAFest2018 was indeed an experience to be relived and attendees who spoke to NET at the end of the event said they were already looking forward to next year’s edition.
