It’s been thirteen years since Pastor Mason Bertha, better known in hiphop legend as Mase- took a break from his retirement to make the very popular ‘Welcome Back’. The former BadBoy rapper had dumped music to become a pastor.
But in 2017, he has returned to the booth once again this time to diss his former friend and collaborator Cam’ron. The two started out in a rap collective named Children of the Corn but soon fell out when both got signed to different labels. Their 2017 beef stems from a bunch of subliminals Cam had been sending Mase for a while and it appeared that the man of God had had enough.
Here’s what the pink fur wearing rapper said about Mase earlier in the year:
‘See that’s what Mase did. Mase went real wild. ‘You know what? I’m gonna just start saying I’m in church.’ Mase took it too far though — started preaching and all that shit. I see what he was doing with that shit. He’s like, ‘You know what? Niggas ain’t gonna motherfucking harass me if I’m in church. That’s what Mase did. He said, ‘Yo, they can’t beef with me, they can’t ask me for nothing. I’m gonna throw on the Rev. Run collar and get the fuck out of here. Fuck that.’
‘Can’t even get mad at Mase. You know why Let me tell you something. I used to be mad at Mase because I was younger than Mase. But, I know niggas 28, 29, 30 that can’t handle having $10 million. That nigga Mase was 22 years old with $10 million, my nigga. He went triple-platinum when he was 21 years old, my nigga, that’s a lot to handle.’
The Oracle, as the song is titled is a four-minute long tirade that took on Camron head-on. This time he didn’t come with soft lines that made him millions in the 90’s; he took inspiration from his days on the streets before signing with BadBoy.
Check out some of the lines and listen to the whole song here.
‘You gone out rhyme who? I’m your prime times 2
I never paid for my mistakes cause that’s not what crime do
Bitches fuck me but that’s what dimes do
Somebody wanna jump in tell ’em come share
I’m starting to feel like we don’t really compare
I’m pretty nigga, wrist litty, sun wear
Diplomat only mean that you ain’t from here
You had a run here but y’all niggas is done here
All these pretty women and y’all niggas bringin’ guns here
You way past the gun line
Every time you talk of me you sound like one time
I fuck the King of rap bitch when I was unsign
And made the nigga Diddy sign me off of one line…’
