Google Celebrates Nigeria’s Christy Essien-Igbokwe’s 58th Posthumous Birthday With New Doodle

Christy Essien Igbokwe (MFR), was born November 11, 1960, and the world’s most popular search engine has designed a new doodle in her honour or her 58th posthumous birthday celebration.

Popularly known as the lady of songs, Christy Essien was a Nigerian actress, musician and first female president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

She sang her songs in Igbo, Ibibio, Efik, Hausa, Yoruba as well as in English which earned her a place in the hearts of many Nigerians.

The ‘seun rere’ singer had a lot of national and international awards to her name. Christy Essien died on June 30, 2011, of an undisclosed ailment.
