English singer, actress and TV personality, Melanie Janine Brown, popularly known as Mel B, has revealed details about her personal life in a new memoir, “Brutally Honest”.
In the book, the 43-year-old revealed details of her suicide attempt at 39, drug use and how she felt using cocaine. She also talked about her divorce from Stephen Belafonte and their stormy relationship.
Mel B who rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of the girl group Spice Girls, took to her Instagram page after the book launch on Tuesday, November 27, to share her excitement. She wrote: “Yippee!!! I’m sooooo excited and sooooo emotional and sooooo sooooo happy that my book is finally here wow!!! This has taken 2 years of blood sweat and ALOT of tears to write AND 10 years of pain I am still trying to process. I am sooooo grateful and sooooo humbled by the support I’ve had from @womens_aid and @louise.gannon97 who helped me write it and piece my life together,
From Women and men from family friends my spice girls of course and my amazing amazing fans. My book is Number 10 in the bestseller list number 1 celebrity biography wow wow wow! but my very first review from a lady still in an abusive relationship has touched me more than I can say. In the book which took about 2 years to write, Mel B revealed that she left Belafonte with $936 in her bank account. She also revealed that she fell madly in love with actor Eddie Murphy whom she dated in 2006. She then talked about the daughter they have together and how she was dumped by the famous comedian.
