Nigerian TV producer, Mo Abudu, has been selected by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the 25 most powerful women in global television.

The EbonyLife TV boss took to social media to share the exciting news, saying: ‘It’s such an honour and privilege to be included in The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the TOP 25 WOMEN IN GLOBAL TV. The Hollywood Reporter is one of the most respected show business magazines in the world.

‘It’s an honor to continue to fly the flag for Nigeria and the continent. I continue to give God all the glory. Thank you Lord and a big thank you to the EbonyLife team, my family and friends and partners and sponsors who give me so much support.’

Abudu left behind a career at Exxon Mobil to follow her passion in media. She has continued to garner international recognition for her work at the network since she entered the industry in 2006.

Forbes Magazine once referred to the media mogul as ‘Africa’s Most Successful Woman’. Abudu, who hopes to ‘successfully produce Africa’s first sci-fi TV series’, broke records when she tried her hand with producing movies.

Fifty and The Wedding Party were game-changing, big-screen flicks for Nollywood with the latter reportedly raking in over half a billion naira and can now be viewed on streaming site, Netflix.

The 53-year-old London-born media mogul has a son and a daughter. Her successful talk show, Moments With Mo, made history as the first syndicated daily talk show on regional African television. Two spinoffs have since come out of the critically acclaimed show.

The first spinoff, Moments, is hosted by media personalities, Toke Makinwa and Bolanle Olukanni. The latest spin off from Moments, Moments Z, is a show created by millennials and hosted by three young presenters. The presenters: Amanda Afolabi, Lisa Mache and Pelumi Shittu, were chosen for the gig after a nationwide search.
