The year 2018 could be classified one which has seen Nigerian female artistes go all out to do the most. Artistes like Tiwa Savage have duly represented Nigeria internationally and only recently became the first African female pop star to shutdown the nearly 3,000 capacity 02 Indigo venue in London for her ‘Savage Tour’. She also is the first Nigerian female artist to win the MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs) in the Best African Act category.
We have Simi, who has given us a lot of dramatic songs to vibe. The Afro-Alternative singer just concluded a soldout concert in London and is also preparing for the Nigeria edition in Lagos on the 9th of December.
Yemi Alade A.K.A Mama Africa is one of the female artistes in Nigeria to highly represent the country. Yemi has gone on endless tours this year and has released fantastic songs such as ‘Bum Bum‘ with 17 million views on youtube, ‘Oh My Gosh‘ with 4 million views.
Then there’s Seyi Shay, who is indeed one of the hottest and arguably the most fashionable female singer in Nigeria. Seyi always brings the heat to every song she lays her hands on. Earlier in the year, she released her ‘Electric Package’ EP and recently released a sensual single titled ‘Gimme Love‘ featuring Runtown.
With ‘Askamaya‘, Teni Entertainer has one of the biggest Nigerian pop songs of 2018. She also has a personality which has earned her so much love and support in this early stage for her career.
Finally, we have Dj Cuppy, the billionaire heiress whose shenanigans has given us memorable experiences in the music industry this year. Although, cuppy’s journey started off as being a DJ, this year has really housed a new talent for her as she tries to unveil musician in her.
