President Muhammadu Buhari is receiving flak for supporting Kano State governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The President was in Kano earlier today and he endorsed Ganduje for a second term in office.
Buhari has been accused of selectively fighting corruption for not condemning Ganduje’s alleged bribery videos. He said last year that the governor was a “very responsible” man.
Ganduje, on his part, has said the videos are “cloned”.
The governor is, however, covered by immunity. Only the State House of Assembly can probe him according to law. Buhari has said repeatedly that he has left the matter to the lawmakers to decide, as his respect to the rule of law.
But the President has been widely criticised for following the rule of law only when it suits him.
So now Buhari is going to raise the hand of Ganduje and urge the people of kano to vote for him.
What a disgrace!
Some lawyers are busy telling us buhari is congnoscente in fighting corruption..!
Buhari is a President not a Leader. #PMBinKano

It’s such an irony that Mr President endorsed Gov. Ganduje aka Gandollar, who has been accused of corruption, at the “Sani Abacha” Stadium. #GandujeGate

Presidency said in a statement in reaction to the criticisms that under Nigerian laws, a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
