Paris Saint-Germain released an official statement across the social media yesterday stating that they will be assessing Neymar Jr‘s ankle injury. The intention is to find out how long the footballer will be needing for recovery and rehabilitation time.
The Brazil forward who ruptured an ankle ligament during a friendly on Wednesday between Brazil and Qatar that ended in 2-0. Neymar was carried out of the stadium through the tunnels in tears during the first half of the match. After which the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed that he will be missing Copa America which starts on June 14 because of the injury.
In the release by the club, they said “Neymar Jr. suffered a severe sprain of the outer lateral ligament of his right ankle in Brasilia during a warm-up match for the Copa America. Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazil striker will be reassessed by the club’s medical department within the next 72 hours to define the rehabilitation process and recovery time for the player.”
This is the second time this year that the striker will be out of a league because of injuries. Neymar Jr. at the beginning of the year broke his metatarsal and was out of the season for two-and-half months ater undergoing surgery and rehabilitation. This is third time though of breaking bones around his legs within 19 months and is making people wonder if it is becoming a recurring problem.
It seems that when it pours, it rains, as Neymar was just stripped of his captaincy title for Brazil. Also, he is facing rape and assault charges against Brazilian model, Najilla Trindade who claims that Neymar forcefully slept with her.
More information about how long the footballer is expected to be out for will be announced by Paris Saint-Germaine within the next 72 hours.
