A legend was born today and here are some interesting facts about him.
He was born Augustine Azuka Okocha August 14, 1973 in Enugu state, Nigeria. The name “Jay-Jay” was passed on to him by his brother James who started playing football first.
He started out at Enugu Rangers before moving on to Bourussia Neunkirchen in 1990.
He is a two time “BBC African Footballer of the year” winner though he has never won the CAF player of the year award.
He scored 14 goals in 74 appearances between 1993 and 2006 for the Super Eagles.
His highest transfer fee was 12.4m euros.
He’s on Pele’s FIFA 100 list.
He is a Turkish- Nigerian citizen. His Turkush name is Mohammed Yavuz.
