Last weekend, Nigerian international pop star; Wizkid came under the fire of his tweeps for rescheduling his Coachella performance.

The Starboy was originally scheduled to perform at the festival same day as Beyonce; on Saturday (April 14). But shortly before the event, it was announced via the Coachella official Twitter account that Wizkid’s performance had been rescheduled for the new week as he couldn’t make it to the U.S last the weekend.

We are sorry to announce that Wizkid is unable to make it into the country to join us this weekend but will be performing next weekend.

Although Wizkid went ahead to further clarify that his absence stems from his inability to clear his bandmember’s visa, unhappy fans still made a case out of the incident and partly, is because this has become a pretty familiar occurrence.

In 2017, Wizkid was billed and advertised to perform alongside global music heavyweights; Jay-Z, J. Cole, Cardi B, Migos etcetera at the Roc Nation organized; Made In America Concert which held in Philly.

Apologies to my fans in philly! Missed made in america yesterday but will make it up in a major way! ❤️

Twenty-four hours after the two-day event which the Starboy inconspicuously failed to turn-up for, he tweeted that his absence from the event was due to health-related issues.

In the same string of tweets that bore his reason for missing Made In America, Wizkid also announced the postponement of his United States tour; explaining that he needed to spend time with his family as he recovers from an ailment.

#teamWiz Sad i’m typing this but i’ll be moving dates on my tour to get my health up. I appeal to my real fans to understand nd pray with me

Save for Wizkid and Davido’s December concert(s), the biggest event of 2017 is nearly undoubtedly Banky W and Adesua Etomi’s wedding. The ceremony caught the attention of the entire continent which explains why Wizkid’s absence from the event raised a lot of eyebrows.

Wizkid and Banky W go way back; in simple words, it is quite impossible to tell the story of Wizkid’s rise to prominence without mentioning Banky – as Banky W gave the Starboy his first record deal.

After missing the traditional wedding ceremony which happened in Lagos, Wizkid announced on social media that he’ll make it to the white wedding but as you’ve already guessed, the Starboy failed to show up.

Although he gave no excuse for his absence, Wizkid celebrated the couple with an Instagram post.

In 2016, the singer was slammed with a lawsuit for failing to show up for a concert in Uganda. It was reported that over 25,000 fans had obtained tickets to see the Starboy perform but he was unable to fly into Uganda due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’ according to the organizers.
