Nigerian internet sphere went aflame on Wednesday night when news broke of the upcoming nuptials between popular media personality Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and Falz’s manager/business partner Femi Soro-Ajayi.

Several outlets (not NET) published photos of an invitation card carrying both their names and the purported date of their wedding.

Not many fans knew that the two were a couple as they had successfully kept the relationship under wraps and were never spotted together.

The news leak is not something that was well received by Gbemi and Femi. Speaking exclusively to NET, the groom-to-be expressed their displeasure at the turn of events.

“We are obviously not happy about the news leak, but there is nothing we can do about it. The news is already out and we can only pray that all goes well on that day.”

Asked if there would be a change of venue as the invitation card revealed details of the wedding including the venue; he said “We cannot change the venue- the only thing we can do about is to beef up the security details, so that only those who have the exclusive invitation will be given access into the venue.”

He added also that the privacy was something they both desired given the public nature of their jobs. Gbemi is arguably one of the top three OAP’s in the country while Femi works with the highflying Falz.

Their secret wedding follows what has now become the norm among celebrities where nothing is announced to the public and fans simply see images from the event during or after it has ended. This year, actresses Zainab Balogun and Kemi Lala Akindoju as well as artiste Mocheddah haven taken Nigerians by surprise by holding very private weddings.
