American R&B singer R. Kelly turned himself in to Chicago Police late on Friday night after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse earlier in the day.
The embattled singer reported to a police precinct in the city and is expected to have his day in court for a bail hearing on Saturday afternoon, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi revealed.
“Singer/songwriter Robert Kelly (R. Kelly) is under arrest and in #ChicagoPolice custody,” the spokesman tweeted.
Kelly, 52 was seen wearing a blue bubble jacket, as he was being led in by police officers.
A grand jury which sat during the week indicted Kelly of sexually assaulting four people, including three teenage girls, between 1998 and 2010, according to court documents.
The singer faces a maximum of 70 years in prison if convicted.
Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg however, maintains that his client is innocent and that all the woman are “lying.”
