The Japanese team may have lost out of an opportunity to reach the quarterfinals of the 2018 World cup in Russia, but their presence and polite conduct of the players and fans during the tournament will surely be talked about for a long time.

The team showed exemplary character after losing their second-round game against Belgium 3. The team made sure they cleaned up their dressing room after the game and also left a ‘Thank you’ note in Russian.

Touching images from the stands in the Rostov Arena also showed Japanese fans just as they did in all their other matches, picking up litter and tidying it into blue bags just minutes after the county’s team suffered the 3-2 defeat.

This gesture has been hailed by many observers who wish other teams can emulate the acts by the Japanese team.
