The Real Enemy of Pop Culture Is The Artiste’s Ego, Not Journalists

I understand that many Nigerian musicians aren’t open to constructive criticism because before now, music reviews weren’t a thing.

Times have changed. The industry is expanding. It is our duty as both journalists and listeners to demand for quality and put musicians in check. You cannot want progress and hate honesty. Growth is usually accompanied by pain. Let’s stretch our creativity.
There’s no such thing as hate’ when I review. I respect music a lot and it is my job as a pop culture journalist to speak for the music!

It is our time. The world is paying attention; we have to deliver quality content that will outlive our generation. Our job is to ensure [that happens]!

Fela made us proud, not just by getting on the charts or going international. Let’s do the same for our kids.
