Tosyn Bucknor: No Condolence Register At Inspiration FM As Radio Station Is Deserted

In her lifetime, Tosyn Bucknor was known as the “Voice of Radio”. Although she was a multifaceted individual who wrote, sang, composed songs; it was mostly for her work on radio that she was best known. After a long period of being the lead OAP on Top Radio, she moved to Inspiration FM earlier this year and handled their afternoon belt.

Following the announcement of her death, NET paid a visit where she worked until her death. We had earlier reported that her health had taken a downturn in the last one month and had been away from work for at least three weeks.

Inspiration FM is situated at Amazing Grace Plaza on Ligali Ayorinde Steet, Victoria Island and was founded by Erastus Akingbola, the Chairman/CEO of the now defunct Intercontinental Bank. As today 2oth November is a national public holiday, one did not expect the building and the street, in general, to be a beehive of activities as it normally is.

However, it was jolting to see that the fourth floor where Inspiration FM operates from was totally deserted. While the radio station had released a statement to announce her death, two staffers who NET saw on ground revealed that they had no authority to speak on the matter, nor were the general manager Azubike Osimili and head of programmes “VJ Osquare” were not in the office

The official statement from the station shared on their Instagram page had read in part: “With very deep regrets and sadness in our hearts, the management and staff of @ifm92.3 announce the untimely passing of one of our own MRS. TOSYN BUCKNOR BOYER. TOSYN BUCKNOR sadly passed away last night in Lagos. She was the exciting, down to earth CO-HOST of our afternoon belt, the LUNCHTIME SHOW. At this moment, the family has asked for their privacy to be respected”, also adding that they will not be commenting further on the issue.

From the ground floor to the fourth floor, there were no photos of the deceased or a condolence register for members of the public to convey their messages. Apart from the two staffers this writer came across as they exited the building, no other personnel was seen at the time.

Also, the official website had not published an obituary or a report of the loss of their OAP.

The seeming inactivity, however, may be due to the work free day in the country. Today is the Muslim festival Eid el Malaud and many Lagosians took advantage of the holiday to rest at home.

Tosyn Bucknor’s lifeless body was said to have been discovered in their Lekki home by her husband of three years, Aurélien Boyer on his return from work on Monday night. Her sister, event planner Funke Bucknor-Obruthe announced that her death was as a result of complications from sickle cell disease.
